Million Dollar Race Dates Set for ’16; Mini Million finds a New Home

Folk Promotions has announced that the enormously successful C.A.R.S. Million Dollar Drag Race will return to Montgomery Motorsports Park in Montgomery, Ala. on Oct. 20-23, 2016 and the Mini Million event will be held at the newly-renovated Galot Motorsports Park in Benson, N.C. on Aug. 19-20.

Last year, the CARS Million Dollar Drag Race celebrated its 20th Anniversary by shattering records for both attendance and payout. More than 600 racers entered in the popular Triple 20K events while the main event drew a record field of more than 350 entries with eventual winner Nathan Martin banking $365,000 for his victory. Shortly after the conclusion of the event in October, event promoters Randy Folk & Jennifer Folk were saddled with the enviable task of improving on what many consider to be the most successful E.T. bracket race in the history of drag racing. While many details of the event are still being finalized, the Triple 20 events will once again pay $25,000 to each day’s champion.

“Last year’s event was just awesome and because of that, we decided to keep the payout for those three events at $25,000 in 2016,” said Folk. “That’s just one of the ways that I want to say thank you to all of the loyal racers who have believed in us and continue to support our events. We’re building something here that is very special and I want to continue to give back to the racers as much as possible as a way to say thank you.”

Folk is also excited to announce that the fourth annual Lucas Oil Mini Million has found a home at the all-new Galot Motorsports Park. The Mini Million will feature more than $80,000 in payouts up for grabs, including a guaranteed $10,000 to win event on Friday, Aug. 19, a $20,000 to win event on Saturday morning, Aug. 20, followed immediately by another $10,000 to win race on Saturday afternoon. The Friday-Saturday format has proven to be a very racer-friendly schedule with Sunday used as either a travel day, or a rain date to finish any events not completed as scheduled.

Another feature added to the 2016 Mini Million will be a live on-line feed courtesy of Motor Mania TV which will allow fans from all over the world to keep track of the action in real-time. All 2016 Mini Million entrants will also receive a complimentary event tee-shirt. There will also be prizes awarded for best losing packages in all races.

“We’re very excited to bring the Lucas Oil Mini Million race to Galot Motorsports Park,” Folk said. “The track has been completely renovated, including the addition of state-of-the-art timing equipment and I believe it’s one of the finest eighth-mile tracks in the country.”

“We have a lot more things in the works for both events that we’ll be announcing during the season but we wanted to make sure that everyone was aware of our dates to they could begin making plans as soon as possible. We have a tough act to follow after last year but we’re determined to continue making our events better and better.”
